Parking and permits

Kearns rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Kearns, trucks and commercial vehicles over three-quarter-ton capacity, and trailers, may not park on a residential street for more than three consecutive hours unless they are servicing the adjacent property.

Kearns (a metro township in Census terms, which its own code and the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District now call a city) is governed by the Kearns Code of Ordinances, much of it carried over from Salt Lake County code, so some sections still say 'county street'. That code limits trucks and commercial vehicles over three-quarter-ton capacity and trailers to three consecutive hours on residential streets unless they're servicing the adjacent property, bans parking whenever it is snowing or snow is on the street from November through April, and caps any vehicle at 48 hours in one spot. Vehicles and objects may sit in the street only temporarily, without obstructing traffic, and parked vehicles must leave at least ten feet of roadway open.
