Parking and permits

South Jordan rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In South Jordan, city code treats any vehicle longer than 24 feet, trailer included, as a truck, and a truck may be parked in a residential zone only while it is actually being loaded or unloaded.

In South Jordan, city code counts a vehicle licensed over 18,000 pounds, rated two tons or more, or longer than 24 feet including any attached trailer as a truck, and trucks may be parked in residential and P-C zones only while actually loading or unloading cargo. From November 1 through March 1, a snow event (one inch or more of snow on the right of way) limits street parking to the even-numbered side during the storm and for 24 hours after, though vehicles may park up to 30 minutes on the restricted side while unloading or delivering property. Trailers and other vehicles cannot be parked on a street for more than 48 continuous hours, placing temporary appurtenances in the public way requires a city permit, and signed permit-parking areas are limited to vehicles with a city-issued permit.

Vehicles may park up to 30 minutes on the restricted side while unloading or delivering property or supplies.
