In Blacksburg, town code bars any motor vehicle or trailer from staying in the same location on a street for more than 24 hours. On blocks signed for residential permit parking, every vehicle needs a permit, but residents can get one-day temporary permits for guests and $10 business permits for people doing business with them, and clearly marked service vehicles can park up to four hours. When snow reaches an inch or more, Main Street between College Avenue and Airport Road becomes a no-parking snow emergency route, and police can tow cars after posting signs.
