Parking and permits

Folsom rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Folsom, commercial vehicles, as defined in Vehicle Code Section 260, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more may not park on any street in a residential zone, except while making pickups or deliveries to a building on that street.

Folsom bars commercial vehicles (as defined in Vehicle Code Section 260) rated at 10,000 pounds or more from parking on residential streets, with an exception for pickups and deliveries, and keeps them off residential streets unless the stop is on that street or the next one over. A utility trailer can't be left on a public roadway without a vehicle attached that can tow it right away, and placing anything on public property requires an encroachment permit. Historic district streets may have residential permit parking.

Folsom moving questions

Can a big truck park on a residential street in Folsom?

Commercial vehicles as defined in Vehicle Code Section 260 with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more can't park on residential-zone streets, but the rule doesn't apply while they make pickups or deliveries to a building on that street. Detached trailers rated at 10,000 pounds or more are covered too.

Can I leave a utility trailer on the street in Folsom?

Not on its own. A utility trailer can't be left standing on a public roadway unless a vehicle able to tow it immediately is attached, and a trailer that isn't moved at least one mile within 72 hours counts as stored, which is prohibited.

Do I need a permit to put something in the street in Folsom?

Placing or keeping any encroachment on public property, including streets, sidewalks and rights-of-way, requires a city encroachment permit.

Can movers park in a Folsom permit parking area?

Vehicles without a permit can't park in designated residential permit parking areas during the set times, but private commercial business vehicles performing a service are exempt while doing that work.
