Parking and permits

Erie rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Erie, a storage container on the street needs a free Town Clerk permit, applied for at least 5 days ahead, but a container in your driveway needs none.

Erie requires a permit from the Town Clerk to put a dumpster or storage container on a street or other public right-of-way, and the application is due at least 5 days before delivery. The permit is free, can run up to 60 days, and the container can never sit on a sidewalk or block traffic. Containers on private property such as a driveway need no permit, though an HOA may set stricter rules.
