Fort Lauderdale rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Fort Lauderdale, a portable storage unit (POD) needs a permit, must sit on the driveway or lot rather than in the public right-of-way, and can stay at a home for at most 14 calendar days per event.
Fort Lauderdale requires a permit before a portable storage unit is placed, and the unit must sit on the driveway, an approved parking area or the buildable part of the lot, not in the public right-of-way; a swale is allowed only with engineering approval and a right-of-way permit, and then for no more than 72 hours. Residential stays are capped at 14 calendar days per event, and every unit must be removed at least 24 hours before predicted winds of 75 mph or more. The zoning code bans parking listed vehicles on residential rights-of-way, with an exception for a commercial vehicle or coupled trailer actively serving the adjacent property, and non-amplified sound plainly audible 25 feet away is banned between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
