Parking and permits

Clay rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Clay, motor vehicles or trailers over 22 feet long may not be parked in any residential district, but commercial or delivery vehicles actively delivering to or servicing a property may park there temporarily.

These rules come from the Town of Clay government's Town Code; the Village of North Syracuse, partly in the town, has its own rules. Vehicles or trailers over 22 feet long and commercial vehicles over 14,000 pounds GVWR can't be parked in residential districts, and trailers and recreational vehicles of any length can't be parked on a Town highway or right-of-way, though commercial or delivery vehicles actively delivering to or servicing a property are exempt. Vehicles left on a highway during a snowstorm, or blocking traffic, a hydrant, a driveway or a mailbox, may be removed.
