Parking and permits

Syracuse rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Syracuse, on-street parking, mostly in residential areas, runs on odd/even rules, so parked vehicles must switch to the other side of the street at 6 p.m.

In Syracuse, odd/even parking means vehicles switch sides of the street at 6 p.m., and signed blocks in parts of downtown add seasonal overnight odd/even limits from November 1 to April 1. The traffic code bars leaving a motor truck or commercial vehicle unattended on a residential-zone street on weekday nights, from Saturday afternoon to Monday morning and on holidays, and a trailer can't be left on a street unhitched. Permits for parking or other activity in the right-of-way go through the Central Permit Office.
