Coachella rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Coachella, commercial trucks more than 22 feet long or over three tons gross weight may not park at any time on streets in residential and commercial zones, a ban that by its terms does not apply to moving vans.
Coachella bans parking commercial trucks over 22 feet or three tons on streets in residential and commercial zones, but that section exempts moving vans; a separate section bars commercial vehicles such as step vans and body trucks from the public right-of-way, with exemptions for vehicles making a pickup or delivery and for pickups and utility vans up to 8 feet tall and 22 feet long. Trucks, trailers and other commercial vehicles can't sit in one place more than 72 hours, no vehicle may stay on a street more than 72 hours in a calendar month, and cars must be off the street during posted sweeping times. Any obstruction or encroachment on a city street or sidewalk needs a written permit from the city engineer.
