Parking and permits

San Ramon rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In San Ramon, no oversized vehicle may be parked on any public street at any time, and the code defines an oversized vehicle as one rated at 10,000 pounds or more, or longer than 18 feet, wider than 80 inches or taller than 82 inches.

San Ramon bans oversized vehicles, defined as those rated at 10,000 pounds or more or longer than 18 feet, wider than 80 inches or taller than 82 inches, from public streets at all times, and bans unhitched trailers and dollies outright. Exceptions cover people actually loading or unloading a noncommercial oversize vehicle and commercial oversize vehicles making pickups or deliveries, but not within 25 feet of a street corner. Dumpsters and portable outdoor storage units in the public right-of-way need an encroachment permit, and some neighborhoods are preferential permit-parking zones.
