Parking and permits

Arvada rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Arvada, a container in a private driveway or garage needs no permit.

In Arvada, a POD or other large container can sit in a private driveway or garage without a permit; putting one in the street needs a right-of-way permit that only a city-licensed container company can apply for, and the container must keep its distance from corners, driveways and hydrants. Large vehicles (25 feet or longer, 8 feet or wider, or over 30 feet with a trailer attached) can park in residential districts only while loading or unloading, making a delivery or servicing a property within 200 feet.

  • Containers, trucks and the street

Arvada requires a right-of-way permit to place a dumpster or large container, including a storage container such as a POD, in the public right-of-way. The container company must apply and must hold a City of Arvada Municipal General Contractor license.
