Parking and permits

Melissa rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Melissa, a temporary portable storage unit (POD) needs a permit from Development Services, may not be placed on any public right-of-way or easement, and may stay no longer than 10 consecutive days.

Melissa's zoning ordinance requires a Development Services permit for a temporary portable storage unit (TPSU, such as a POD), bars them from any public right-of-way or easement, and in single-family districts places them at the point furthest from the street. Only one TPSU permit per residence is allowed at a time, no more than twice a year, for up to 10 consecutive days. Truck tractors, trailers, semitrailers and commercial motor vehicles may not park or stand on public streets unless expeditiously loading or unloading.
