Parking and permits

Dallas rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Dallas, city code bars stopping or parking a truck with a rated capacity over one and a half tons, a trailer or a semitrailer on a block face with homes, except while expeditiously loading or unloading passengers, freight or merchandise.

In Dallas, city code bars stopping, parking or standing a trailer, semitrailer, bus or truck rated over one and a half tons on property within a residential area, with an exception for expeditiously loading or unloading passengers, freight or merchandise, and it bars leaving an unattended vehicle on a public street for more than 24 hours in a row. Some neighborhoods are Resident Parking Only zones where, during restricted hours, only vehicles with the permit hang tag may park, and unpermitted vehicles can be ticketed, towed or immobilized. The noise code addresses altering or repairing a building next to homes outside 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.

Dallas moving questions

Can a rental moving truck park on a residential street in Dallas?

Can I hood a downtown parking meter to hold a space for my move?
