Parking and permits

Compton rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Compton, no vehicle may be parked on a street for more than five hours unless it is a passenger car designed to carry up to nine people or another vehicle the code expressly excludes.

Compton limits street parking to five hours for any vehicle other than passenger cars and other expressly excluded vehicles, and requires trailers to stay hitched to a vehicle when parked. On signed streets, oversized vehicles over 22 feet long or 84 inches wide or tall may stop only to actively load or unload at an adjacent home for up to one hour, and alleys are for loading and unloading only. The Richland Farms preferential parking district is restricted around the clock.
