Parking and permits

Los Angeles rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Los Angeles, a business operator may not park a commercial vehicle or any vehicle over 22 feet long on a mostly residential street, but city code makes an exception while a vehicle is loading or unloading property and more time is reasonably needed.

In Los Angeles, the Municipal Code bars business operators from parking commercial vehicles, or any motorized vehicle longer than 22 feet, on streets where most buildings are residential, with an exception for loading or unloading property. On streets posted for oversize vehicles, vehicles over 22 feet long or 84 inches tall are restricted from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. unless they show an advance LADOT permit ($10 a day, up to three days), and in preferential parking districts commercial vehicles may stay past posted limits while loading or unloading. Posted street-sweeping routes are swept every other week and vehicles in restricted areas on sweeping days are cited.
