Parking and permits

Babylon rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Babylon, a storage container on a residential property may sit in the front yard only on the paved driveway, for no more than 180 days, and only one at a time.

These rules come from the Town of Babylon code, which covers unincorporated hamlets such as West Babylon, Deer Park and Copiague; the incorporated villages of Babylon, Amityville and Lindenhurst have their own codes. Storage containers must come from a Town-licensed company, sit only on the paved driveway if in the front yard, stay no longer than 180 days and measure no more than 20 by 8 by 8.6 feet, while roll-offs and dumpsters are barred from streets and sidewalks. Commercially registered vehicles, buses and trailers over 2 1/2 tons can't park on highways in the unincorporated Town except during local delivery, and no vehicle may park on a residential street during a declared snow emergency.
