East Hampton rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In East Hampton, it is unlawful to store a trailer, attached to a vehicle or not, on land in a residence district, and a trailer left stationary there for more than 72 hours is presumed to be in violation.
These rules come from the Town of East Hampton government's Town Code. Trailers can't be stored on residential land, and one that sits for more than 72 hours is presumed to be in violation; small open utility trailers and a few other types are exempt. Between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m., running a stationary vehicle for more than 10 minutes an hour within 145 feet of a residential district counts as noise pollution. During a declared snow emergency, parking is banned on both sides of main arteries.
