Islip rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Islip, from December 15 to March 15, no motor vehicle may be parked on a residential street between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.
These rules come from the Town of Islip code, which applies to the Town's unincorporated hamlets; villages inside the Town have their own codes. Islip bans parking on residential streets from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. every December 15 to March 15 and at any time during a declared snow emergency, bars commercially registered vehicles and personal trailers from Town roads overnight from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and allows commercial vehicles on public roads only while actively loading, unloading or working. A portable storage unit on an occupied home's lot needs a Building Division permit and can stay up to three months.
