Parking and permits

Greenburgh rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Greenburgh, parking on any public highway is banned from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. every night from December 1 to March 15, except on certain listed streets with their own snow rules.

These rules come from the Town of Greenburgh government and its Town Code, which covers unincorporated areas such as Hartsdale, Edgemont and Fairview; the villages of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Elmsford, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington and Tarrytown have their own rules. Overnight parking on public highways is banned from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. between December 1 and March 15, and every vehicle must leave the roadway when a snow emergency is declared. Commercial vehicles, which the code defines to include any vehicle over 6,000 pounds, 20 feet long or eight feet wide, can't park on any street from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m., and placing equipment or materials on a Town street needs a Public Works permit.
