Parking and permits

Ramapo rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Ramapo, parking is banned on all public roads in unincorporated Ramapo whenever snow is accumulating and snowfall has been forecast, and once snow starts the ban lasts until the street is cleared to the curb.

These rules come from the Town of Ramapo government and its Town Code, which covers the unincorporated parts of the town; villages such as Suffern, Spring Valley and Airmont have their own codes. Parking on all public roads is banned whenever snow is accumulating and snowfall is forecast, until the street is cleared to the curb, and no vehicle may park in front of a private driveway. The Town's truck ban on certain listed roads still allows deliveries and pickups at homes, but the noise code bars truck loading and unloading of boxes and equipment in residential districts from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
